Oregon edible packaging bill stalls in legislature without passage

A bid to impose stricter packaging standards on Oregon cannabis edibles did not make it through the legislature, according to NPR for Oregonians. The measure's failure comes as Oregon maintains one of the country's largest regulated cannabis markets, with 761 active retail licenses and 264 manufacturing facilities as of late July.

The bill's collapse suggests continued tension between product-safety goals and industry compliance costs in Oregon's cannabis sector. Just weeks before the packaging bill stalled, lawmakers proposed a separate 10mg THC cap on edibles, indicating persistent legislative interest in consumption-risk controls—even as stricter measures face hurdles.
