FILE — closure · Ivan Radic / CC BY 2.0Garden Mother LLC's license is no longer active in Montana, according to the state license roster updated August 5. The deactivation appears part of a broader churn: the same roster update logged at least a dozen inactive licenses across cultivators, retailers, labs, and manufacturers including Holistic Harvest Cannabis Farms, Three Rivers Cannabis, Lionheart Cannabis Outlet Store, and multiple Sacred Sun Farms entities.
Montana's adult-use market remains populated with 538 open retail locations, 306 cultivation licenses, and 181 manufacturing permits as of the August 5 snapshot. Recent monthly sales data shows the market in the low tens of millions of dollars. The regulator has not disclosed reasons for individual license deactivations; they may reflect voluntary surrenders, enforcement actions, or routine non-renewal.
Watch next whether August's deactivation wave signals systematic compliance pressure or seasonal consolidation in the state market, and whether the regulator issues explanatory guidance on the wave of license status changes.
