Royalton, Vermont voters to decide on local cannabis retail authorization

Royalton voters will decide whether to permit cannabis sales in their town, according to the Valley News. The local referendum follows months of regulatory activity in Vermont, where the state has grown its adult-use infrastructure to 111 open retail locations, 320 cultivation sites, and 91 manufacturing facilities as of late July.

Vermont regulators have been sharpening enforcement and consumer safeguards. In mid-July, the Cannabis Control Board updated purchase limits—doubling daily caps to combat black-market diversion—and issued new lab-testing guidance. The state has also logged multiple license closures in recent weeks, including All Bliss Cannabis, Rhize Cannabis Company, and Craft Cannabis Co. Manufacturing, and documented compliance violations that drew an $80,000 fine against Forbins Finest's owner.
