Vermont's state license roster shows RootLand Cannabis LLC no longer active; at least 11 other operators deactivated in past week.
FILE — closure · Ivan Radic / CC BY 2.0RootLand Cannabis LLC, which held active cultivator and manufacturer licenses in Vermont, is no longer listed as active according to the state license roster updated August 7. The company's two licenses—SCLT0135 (Cultivator) and MANU0067 (Manufacturer)—were previously marked active but have been deactivated.
The closure is part of a broader wave: the state roster shows at least 11 other cannabis operators deactivated between August 4 and August 7, including Vail Farm Cannabis LLC, Hyde Park Headies LLC, Common Weal Cannabis LLC, Ninny Goat & Co., Magic Mann Cultivation & Processing LLC, Sweetspot Vermont LLC, Simpson Brook Retail LLC, The Herbal Collective, Snowbird Botanicals LLC, and The Hashstead. Vermont maintains 307 open cultivation licenses, 107 open retail, and 88 open manufacturing operations as of the latest state tally.
The timing coincides with Vermont Senate Democrats reintroducing a cannabis descheduling and regulation bill August 5, suggesting regulatory pressure or enforcement action may be driving deactivations. Monthly sales remain modest at roughly $13 million year-to-date. Watch for official statements clarifying whether closures result from voluntary surrender, compliance failures, or policy shifts.
