Columbia Care Delaware license no longer active in state
State license roster shows Columbia Care Delaware's retail licenses inactive as of Sept. 2, marking another operator exit from the small market.

The operator had maintained three retail dispensary licenses across Rehoboth Beach, Smyrna, and Wilmington. The timing coincides with broader consolidation in Delaware's adult-use market, which generated $8 million in tax revenue in its first year and currently supports 17 open retail locations.
Columbia Care's exit follows Cannabist Co.'s departure and bankruptcy filing earlier in 2026, suggesting sustained pressure on independent operators in the compact market. Concurrent with this closure, AYR Wellness received new retail licenses, and larger multistate players including Trulieve—which redomiciled to Delaware in August—continue building presence, indicating a shift toward larger-capitalized chains.
The immediate question is whether Columbia Care will formally surrender or seek to reinstate licenses. Delaware's retail count may shrink if the stores do not reopen, reducing consumer access in a market with nascent infrastructure and ongoing regulatory changes, including pending restrictions on THC beverages.
