The company already operates two medical cannabis cultivation licenses and two dispensary licenses—one pair in Mitchell and one in Sioux Falls—both currently active.
The timing reflects significant churn in South Dakota's medical cannabis retail segment. On August 6, the same day The Flower Shop's new license was issued, 12 existing retailers lost active status, including multiple Royzzz locations, Northern Hills Alternative Health, Dakota Health and Wellness, and Superior Buds, among others. South Dakota currently maintains 52 open retail licenses across its medical market.
