Genesis Farms adds retail license in South Dakota medical market

The operator already maintains active medical cannabis dispensary licenses in Mitchell and Yankton, plus cultivation licenses in Box Elder, Aberdeen, and Brookings, suggesting a multi-location, vertically integrated footprint within the state's medical program.
The new retail authorization arrives amid visible consolidation in South Dakota's medical market. On the same day, state records show Dakota Dispensaries and Terp City also received new retail licenses, but the roster documents at least 12 closures across mid-August and late July—including multiple locations branded Royzzz and other established operators like Superior Buds and The Broken Boot Dispensary.
South Dakota's medical market currently maintains 53 open retail locations, 31 cultivation operations, and 14 manufacturing licenses. Watch whether Genesis Farms' additional retail presence stabilizes or whether the closure-to-opening ratio continues to signal market stress or license consolidation.
