Nevada City's city council is taking up cannabis regulations and security camera requirements, signaling continued local-level implementation of licensing and operational controls. The move reflects ongoing jurisdictional activity even as Nevada's state-level cannabis framework has stabilized with 106 open retail licenses, 106 cultivation sites, and 84 manufacturing facilities currently active.

The timing aligns with Nevada County's earlier grant activity—the county secured $4.5 million in Prop. 64 funding for cannabis enforcement and environmental protection in July, and opened community input on dispensary selection in June. Those efforts suggest municipalities are building out compliance infrastructure ahead of or alongside retail approvals.
