Vermont Cannabis Sales Jump 12.2% in July as Illinois, Michigan Markets Cool
State filings show Vermont posting the sharpest monthly gain in the U.S. market while Arizona and Michigan lead declines; Canada and California hold steady.

Maine also posted a gain, with July sales rising to $43.4M from $42.4M, split between $23.2M adult-use and $20.3M medical. Colorado's May figures showed a similar uptick, reaching $107.5M versus $105.1M the prior month, with adult-use sales of $98.5M and medical at $9.0M.
Declines Lead the Broader Field
Arizona posted the steepest percentage drop among larger markets, with July sales falling to $90.2M from $97.6M — a decline of roughly 7.6%. Adult-use sales accounted for $80.1M of the July total, with medical at $10.1M.
Michigan saw the largest dollar-figure decline, with August sales dropping to $259.1M from $270.9M, a fall of $11.8M. Adult-use sales made up nearly all of Michigan's total at $258.8M, with medical sales at just $0.3M.
Illinois, the largest market by monthly volume among filers, reported June sales of $262.2M, down from $266.8M the prior month. Adult-use sales totaled $236.3M and medical $25.9M.
Other states reporting August figures showed modest pullbacks: Maryland sales fell to $105.2M from $109.0M, Connecticut slipped to $25.0M from $25.6M, Montana dropped to $28.9M from $29.7M, New Mexico declined to $47.4M from $49.8M, and Oregon eased to $77.6M from $79.6M.
Massachusetts, also reporting for August, saw sales decline to $156.6M from $161.5M, with adult-use sales of $144.9M and medical at $11.7M.
International and Quarterly Data
Canada's June 2026 sales rose to $517.8M CAD from $510.4M CAD the prior month, a gain of roughly 1.4%. California, which reports on a quarterly basis, posted $1,013.2M in sales for the quarter beginning April 1, 2026.

Massachusetts' average price per gram stood at $3.87 as of June 2026, while Connecticut recorded 880,793 products sold in August 2026 — metrics worth tracking as several states show early signs of price or volume softening heading into fall filings.
