Michigan Cannabis Sales Reach $270.9M in July, Topping All Reporting States
Michigan posted the largest monthly gain among state markets even as Massachusetts, Colorado and Illinois pulled back in their latest filings.

Adult-use sales alone accounted for $270.5M of the total, with medical sales contributing just $0.3M — making Michigan the largest state market to report this week.
The gain contrasts with Massachusetts, where sales slipped to $161.5M in July 2026 from $169.4M the prior month, a decline even as the state remained the second-largest reporting market. Adult-use sales there totaled $149.3M, with medical sales at $12.2M.
State-by-state snapshot
Several smaller markets moved higher on a monthly basis. Maryland sales climbed to $109M in July 2026 from $103M in June. Connecticut rose to $25.6M in July from $24.7M, with adult-use sales of $20.1M and medical sales of $5.6M. New Mexico advanced to $49.8M in July from $46.9M, and Montana increased to $29.7M in July from $27.2M. Oregon sales rose to $79.5M in July from $75.9M in June, while Maine ticked up to $42.2M in June from $40M in May.
Not every market advanced. Colorado sales fell to $105.1M in April 2026 from $108.8M in March, with adult-use sales of $96M and medical sales of $9.1M. Arizona dipped to $105.7M in May from $107.9M in April. Illinois sales eased to $262.2M in June from $266.8M in May, with adult-use sales of $236.3M and medical sales of $25.9M. Vermont slipped slightly to $13M in June from $13.3M in May.
International and large markets
Canada reported sales of $517.8M CAD in June 2026, up from $510.4M CAD in May. California, which reports on a quarterly basis, posted sales of $956.7M for the quarter beginning January 1, 2026.
What to watch
Because states file on different lags, comparisons span multiple reporting months rather than a single calendar period — Colorado's latest data reflects April, while Michigan, Maryland, Connecticut, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon and Vermont report through June or July. Massachusetts reported an average price of $3.87 per gram for June 2026, while Connecticut recorded 908,491 products sold in July 2026, metrics worth tracking as more states file August data in the coming weeks.
